This week I am starting a new feature called “Take Me Home Tuesday.” My blog is all about my efforts to save the world one cat at a time and I have been looking for new ways to continue that mission while still taking a break from rescue work. I was partially inspired by Crepes from The Cat in the Fridge. On her blog she features a Bachelor or Bachelorette of the week, usually a wonderful special needs cat. I was also inspired by Remember Me Thursday last week. There are so many wonderful cats looking for forever homes, sometimes it can be overwhelming for adopters to find the right cat and cats to find the right adopter. A little extra exposure never hurts when you are looking for your forever family! So without further ado I want to introduce you to Raja.
Raja is a stunningly goodlooking 5 year-old FIV+ cat available for adoption through Lulu’s Locker. Raja is a quiet, laid back cat who enjoys the simple things in life, such as a good window to look out of! His favorite activity is to sit on the futon or his cat tree, watching the birds and squirrels outside. According to Erin, co-founder of Lulu’s locker Raja is a “stitch when he loses balance on his cat tree from concentrating too much on birds or squirrels outside!” Raja isn’t just a daydreamer though. He loves a good round with his toy mouse or having a go at a nice toy on a string. Raja would most certainly do well with a feline buddy; someone he can play with, snuggle with and maybe even share his day dreams about birds with!
If you are looking for a companion cat with a big heart, who will shower you with love and affection, Raja is just the boy for you. He loves to greet new people, as everyone is a potential friend! To show just how eager he is to be your friend Raja will eagerly show you his tummy for you to pet as soon as he meets you. He also loves to snuggle in laps! What could be better than coming home froma long day of work only to be greeted by a cat who wants nothing more than your company and love. When you come home from work and have unwound with a little TLC from Raja, perhaps he will tell you some of his stories from the day. He loves to talk with his little chirpy voice, perhaps he will share his dreams of chasing squirrels, or thank you for giving him a home of his own, or maybe he will just tell you how much he loves you!
Raja is looking for a human with just as big a heart as his. In addition to being FIV+ Raja takes pills twice a day to prevent seizures. Erin says he takes them in treats-no muss, no fuss! Don’t think of it as giving him medicine, instead think of it as giving him his favorite treat! After all what’s a little medicine when he is giving you lots of love, attention and entertainment in return? A Little About FIV:
FIV or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, attacks the immune systems of cats. It is passed from cat to cat through deep bite wounds or during sexual interaction. It is not passed between cats who are sharing food or water bowls or cats who groom each other. Testing positive for FIV is not a death sentence for cats, many live long healthy lives with no signs of illness until the very end of their lives (5-12 years; though I personally know an FIV+ cat who is thought to be close to 16 years and is still going strong!). If you would like to learn more about FIV please visit Lulu’s Locker’s Education & Rescources page.
Raja and many more special needs cats are waiting for you at Lulu’s Locker and shelters or rescue groups across the country. If you are looking for a new cat to add to your family please consider adopting a special needs or less adoptable cat!
